Letter of Introduction
My racial identity is an African American male. The struggles I have gone through was when I was in elementary school I had to go to a different school because we had move to the county and I was use to the city schools. It was hard for me because I had made to say bye to all my friends I made at Lexington elementary and the hardest part I had to say bye to my girl friend. When I went to Kirkwood elementary it was different to me because I had to get used to the mixed crowed of kids and when I was back at Lexington it was just black kids there. Some of the kids would talk about me because there reading levels where higher then mine that just motivated me to try even hard and at Lexington we didn’t have to do that so I was not ready for that type of test. So it took some time to blend in with the other kid and to make some new friends but I think I needed that because it made my step out of my comfort zone. It made me a better person and opened me up to try different things and look at me now. My experiences are similar to Rodriguez because we both experienced different being in a school where there are like only ten percent of the school kids had the same racial identity as me. We both had to deal with kids making fun of us because we were different.

Letter of Introduction
The labels I like to give myself are positive goals and know the thing I want out of life so I try hard to get. Another label is that I will look out for people that I don’t even know it’s how I would want to be treated like for example I have found some car keys in Remington on the chair after I walked out of class so I got them and took them to a teacher. So me myself I guess I have never tried labeling myself because I would have to label myself with more then one.
My self identity functions in my day to day life because I like to meet new people so we can know each other and we just might have some thing that we both like to do. When I get up I’m happy early in the morning I try specking to people I don’t know some times I might get a reply or a smile and some will keep on walking. I feel like myself identity stands out from some people so I would say my self functions are being physical, making other people laugh and make the best out of my life and don’t let no one pull you down.
I compare my concept of self with Hurston’s said “I feel like a brown bag of miscellany propped against a wall “ because I don’t let material things stop me in the way I live my life cause those things can be here day and the next be gone.

Task One
I’m thinking about writing about my family reunion for task one and the events we had at it. The food we cook out at the park and the introduction to your family members. Because it’s good to know your background and where you come from. The sort of problems I think will arise for task one will be some people will not know what to write about or they will find their self holding them self back by not adding all their ideals that pop in their head. I anticipate that I will try to stay on the topic and think about some supporting details threw out my paper. So I can hold my readers attention and get good feedback. I really don’t have no questions for task one.

What do you remember of your own grandparent or another elderly person of importance to your family?
I really don’t remember too much about my grandmothers because they both had passed a little while after I was born. The only time I have seen them was in a picture my mother or father had shown me so that’s like the only way I could have seen them but I just have the feeling that they’re with me more then I think they are. My grandfather on my mother side I had saw him like one time when I was 13 years old I guess he wanted to see his grandson one last time before he went to a better place. I don’t know why my mother didn’t want me and my sisters to meet him but I guess she was embarrass of the life style he lived because he was a homosexual but I don’t think that was a good reason to keep us away from him. My mother’s dad gave me his old harmonica which I thought was nice of him but as soon as we left his house my mother took the harmonica out of my hand and threw it away. I was mad because it was my first time seeing him and that was the only thing he gave me. Like in 6 months he passed away and I don’t know or don’t hear about his funeral so I really was upset so I told myself that I will never forget him . My grandfather on my father side I show him more than my mother’s dad which I thought was a good thing because it made me feel closer to him I would go visit him at the retirement home in East St .Louis we would talk about what ever came to my mind . I and my dad’s father couldn’t really do anything physical because he had a number of strokes. So that’s why I don’t stay mad at a person for a long time because like people say “one day you here and the next day you gone”.

Letter of Introduction
Hi my name is Carlos Harris Jr and I’m a freshman at Missouri Western State University. My major is computer science the minor I was thinking about is construction management. But so far I’m enjoying my experience of being a freshman in college I also meet a lot of old friends since I have been up here at Missouri Western State University. I was born in St. Louis Mo on April 12, 1990 so that makes me 20 years old. The things I like to do on my free time are to workout, play basketball, swim, and play football. I would say the type of person I’m pretty laid back, funny at times that it is appropriate, and I have a great personality. My family consists of me, my two sisters their names are Myra, Marlana and my mom, dad.
My experience as a reader has been alright for me because I like to read sports magazines and the sport section in the newspaper that all I would prefer to read if it was my choice. The experience I had as a writer can get a little better cause I need to work on my hand writing and I would like to refresh my spelling & grammar because being out of school for two years don’t seem that long but you would be surprised at what you would forget in that little bit of time. And I think its true what they say “if you don’t use it you lose it”.
